Catch up with the fortunes of our players out on loan this weekend
Injury kept Jan Holldack and Andy Gogia out of action this weekend but there was better news for Manny Onariase as he helped Cheltenham Town to a vital 3-1 win over Morecambe on Saturday.
Gary Johnson's side went into the match on the back of a four game losing run and they had Scott Brown to thank early on as he saved Michael Rose's penalty. Harry Pell then headed The Robins ahead before a second-half penalty from Danny Wright and a second for Pell wrapped things up. Morecambe pulled one back late on as a long throw bounced in off Manny but Town held on to move up a place to 21st and maintain their six point gap over the bottom two.
A knock picked up in last weekend's defeat to Schalke meant that Jan Holldack missed out on SV Wuppertaler's 3-1 defeat to Koln II on Saturday. Jan's former side took control of the match in 13 second-half minutes thanks to goals from Roman Prokoph, Stanley Ratifo, and Hikmet Ciftci. Kevin Hagemann pulled one back for the home side at the Stadium Am Zoo in the dying seconds but defeat sees Wuppertaler drop to ninth in the table ahead next Saturday's trip to struggling Siegen.
Also in Germany, Dynamo Dresden missed a golden chance to close that gap at the top of the table as they let a three goal lead slip to draw 3-3 with league leaders VfB Stuttgart on Sunday. Stefan Kutschke's first-half hat-trick had Dresden firmly in control at the break, despite Simon Terodde pulling one back for the home side on the half hour. That was how it remained until the final 15 minutes when Emiliano Insúa made it 3-2 before Terrode netted his second of the afternoon from the spot in the fourth minute of added time to leave Dresden eight points outside the promotion places.
