Club also recognised for Friendliest Club Staff by EFL
Brentford Football Club has been awarded with The EFL Family Excellence Award for the 2016/17 season. The Club has also been presented with the Friendliest Club Staff Award by the EFL.
The EFL Family Excellence Award recognises the outstanding experience provided by clubs for young fans and families, as well as their efforts to enhance the matchday experience. This season, a record breaking 51 clubs from across all three divisions in the EFL have been recognised.
Upon collecting the award for the eighth successive year, it was noted that Brentford were continuing to perform excellently given the ageing facilities at Griffin Park, having played in their historic ground since 1904. The customer service from the staff in the Ticket Office and the stewards in the Family Area was also singled out for particular praise.
More than ever this year, EFL clubs are providing families with engaging and innovative matchday entertainment, as they continue to find new and unique ways to attract fans and their families to matches. Such experiences include high levels of ticket booking assistance for families, extensive pre-match advice, exciting entertainment (both inside and outside stadiums), access to players, mascots and dedicated family zones and activities.
Shaun Harvey, EFL Chief Executive, said: “The EFL Family Excellence Awards have proven to be a fantastic vehicle for celebrating and highlighting the excellent progress that clubs are making in providing families with improved matchday experiences.
“Now in their tenth year, the awards have made a significant impact and this year’s winners have once again shown how innovative thinking and a strong commitment can enhance the experience for both home and away fans."
Brentford FC Chief Executive Mark Devlin added: “We are delighted to once again receive the Family Excellence Award. We have invested considerably over the past two seasons, both financially and in resources, in to developing an interactive family area, which our younger fans and families can really enjoy and which we are really proud of.
"Our tremendous Ticket Office staff are very family friendly and tuned in to the needs of young families and first time visitors to Griffin Park. We also have dedicated Family Area staff, who all positively interact with the kids to ensure that they get the most out of a matchday. Whether it be meeting one of their favourite players, getting their faces painted or simply enjoying the close-up action.
"I am immensely proud that our staff have been recognised as being some of the friendliest and most welcoming in the EFL.”
The Family Excellence Award recipients are decided using independent assessments from real families, who make matchday visits across all 72 League clubs, during the 2016/17 season.
