Hat-trick sees Scott in EFL selection for second week running
Scott Hogan's hat-trick on Saturday against Preston North End has seen him named in the EFL Team of the Weekend for the second week running.
The striker took his tally to five goals in a week and became the first player to score a hat-trick for The Bees in more than 18 months as he stole the show in Saturday's 5-0 win over Simon Grayson's side. His first came at the end of the first-half, finishing off Romaine Sawyers through ball. After Harlee Dean made it 2-0, Scott capitalised on a poor back header to make it three. Chris Humphrey then put into his own net before Scott completed his hat-trick in the dying minutes to wrap up Brentford's biggest win in the second tier for more than 60 years.
Scott's hat-trick saw him selected in the EFL Team of the Week, a week after being selected following his brace against Brighton and Hove Albion. The team, published on the EFL website, is drawn from the performances over the previous weekend's action in all Sky Bet Football League divisions. John Egan is the other Brentford player to have been named in the team of the week this season after his double in the win over Ipswich Town.
