Dana Johnson on target but Bees held at Lampton School

Brentford Women’s were held to a 1-1 draw against Hampton and Richmond Borough on Sunday in the Greater London’s Women’s Football League at Lampton Park.

It was the away side who almost took the lead within the first 20 seconds when a long ball found the Hampton and Richmond forward whose effort looped over Roxanne Clarke’s head and off the woodwork. Ryan Peter’s side soon took the game to the opposition with a number of well worked chances before finally breaking the deadlock after 28 minutes when a neat run from Sophie Lee found Dana Johnson who opened the scoring.

Hampton and Richmond were fortunate to pull a goal back early in the second half when a low driven effort found its way beyond Clarke in the Brentford goal. The Bees continued to press in search of a winner but were unable to convert their chances with the best efforts falling to Lisa Grant and Lee.

Clarke said after the game “It was a dominant performance from the team but we ran out of luck in front of goal.”

The Women’s team face an away trip against Hackney Women on Sunday who currently sit second in the league.
