Bees defender included in 23 man squad for match against Kazakhstan
Andreas Bjelland has been called-up to the Denmark squad for their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Kazakhstan next month and a friendly against the Czech Republic. Denmark host The Kazakhs on Friday 11 November at the Telia Parken in Copenhagen, kick-off 8.45pm local time, before heading to Mladá Boleslav to play the Czechs on Wednesday 15 October, kick-off 8.30pm. Åge Hareide's side are in desperate need of the three points after back to back defeats in qualifying earlier this month. The Danes are currently fourth in Group E with three points from three matches, four points behind group leaders Poland. The 28-year-old defender is one of five English based players in the Denmark squad alongside Leicester City's Kasper Schmeichel, Tottenham Hotspur's Christian Eriksen, Southampton's Pierre Hojbjerg, and Viktor Fischer from Middlesbrough.
After recovering from a serious knee injury picked up last August, Andreas has cemented his place back in The Bees starting line-up this season, starting eight of our last nine league matches. The 28-year-old has made ten appearances in total this season, helping keep five clean sheets in those matches. His form saw him recalled to the Denmark squad for the first time since July 2015 for last month's matches and now he has been included again, looking to add to his 21 caps.
