Bees beaten in top of the table clash
Brentford Women's FC were beaten 3-2 by Victoire Ladies in a top of the table clash in the Greater London’s Women’s Football League at Lampton School on Sunday.
The Bees opened the scoring against the run of play when Saffron Hand latched onto Amber Langston-Lloyd's pass, rounded the keeper and tucked the ball home. Victoire were quick to respond and levelled as a long range effort found its way over Roxanne Clark’s head and into the Brentford goal.
Ryan Peters' side responded well to being pegged back and re-took the lead before the break as Hand capitalised on a defensive error and struck the ball beyond the keepers reach.
The visitors again came back after the break, their forward beating the offside trap and slotting past Clark, to make it 2-2 before they struck the winner with 20 minutes to go: the ball finding its way into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. The defeat leaves Brentford in second place, four points behind Victoire with a game in hand.
Langston-Lloyd said after the game, “We have to move on from today’s defeat because there is still a long way to go and many points to play for.”
Next up for Peters' side is an away trip to Kingstonian next Sunday.
