Loan Round-Up: Debut to forget for Herson Alves

30 November 2016

Catch up with the fortunes of the Brentford players out on loan currently

It wasn't the way that Herson Alves would have pictured his debut going as Sutton United were beaten 6-0 at home by Dover Athletic in the National League last night. The 19-year-old was thrown in from the start at Gander Green Lane as Dover took an early lead through Ricky Miller. Things got worse for Sutton as Dean Beckwith was shown a straight red card for an alleged elbow after just 20 minutes. Following that Dover took complete control: former Bee Moses Emmanuel scored twice, either side of a Ross Lafayette strike to make it 4-0 at the break. Herson was replaced by former Arsenal defender Craig Eastmond at half-time but that didn't stop Ademola completing his hat-trick and Miller grabbing his second to make the final score 6-0. Next up for Herson and Sutton is an FA Cup Second Round tie at home to Cheltenham Town on Saturday.

Jota played the full 90 minutes last night as SD Eibar took control of their Fourth Round Spanish Cup tie with a 2-1 victory away at Sporting Gijon. Former Manchester United striker Bebe fired Eibar into a second minute lead but they were pegged back on the hour when Borja Viguera headed home Lillo's cross. It looked like the game was heading for a draw but Ruben Pena popped up in the 89th minute to fire home from close range to ensure Eibar take the advantage into the second leg at the Ipurua on Wednesday 21 December.

Meanwhile, in Germany, it has been another couple of good weeks for Andy Gogia and Dynamo Dresden as they extended their unbeaten run to six matches. The winger netted both goals in their 2-1 win at home to Greuther Furth ten days ago to take him to seven goals from 13 matches this season before playing the 90 minutes again at the weekend in their 2-2 draw with VFL Bochum. Dynamo currently sit seventh in the 2. Bundesliga, just two points behind Hannover 96 in the final promotion spot.
