Goalkeeper an unused substitute as England Under-18s wrap up tri-team tournament
Ellery Balcombe was an unused substitute for England's Under-18s as they won the their latest tri-team tournament despite last night's defeat to France on penalties at Peterborough United. The two sides couldn't be separated in normal time despite France dominating, Moussa Sylla twice coming close for Les Bleus. After a goalless 90 minutes, the match went to penalties with West Bromwich Albion's Jonathan Leko the only man to miss from the spot. Following Friday's 2-0 win over Poland at Stevenage the draw in normal time was still enough to see Neil Dewsnip's side take the crown.
Ellery earned his second cap for England's Under-18s on Friday night in the win over Poland and will be looking to be involved again in the new year when England head to Qatar in March to play Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
