Goalkeeper wins second cap in 2-0 win over Poland
Ellery Balcombe's clean sheet helped England's Under-18s to pick up three points from the opening game of their latest tri-team tournament last night. The Young Lions, under Neil Dewsnip, beat Poland 2-0 at Stevenage's Lamex Stadium thanks to a goal in each half from Ipswich Town's George Hirst. The Young Lions didn't have things all their own way however, as Poland kept Ellery busy over the course of the 90 minutes, Adam Chrzamowski in particular drawing a fine save from The Bees keeper early on.
Last night's match saw the Brentford B goalkeeper earn his second cap for the Young Lions after making his debut last month. The 17-year-old has made eight appearances for The B Team this season and will hope to be involved again for the national set-up on Monday, 14 November, when England take on France at Peterborough United, kick-off 7pm.
