Young Spanish forward signs up after leaving La Masia in the summer
Former FC Barcelona striker Marc Río Borruel has become the latest player to sign for Brentford B. The 19-year-old forward completed a medical today, Thursday 14 July, and signed a two-year contract, subject to international clearance. The teenager, known as Marc Río, left the Spanish club at the end of last season and has agreed to move to England to be part of Brentford’s new B Team.
Marc first joined Barcelona when he was 14 from Unión Esportiva Cornellá and progressed through the youth ranks. After a year back with Cornellá he played for Barcelona’s second tier youth team – Juvenil B – and then spent last season as part of the Juvenil A squad. He represented the Spanish side in the UEFA Youth League, helping them to the Quarter-Finals before leaving in the summer.
Rob Rowan, Head of Football Operations, said: "We are all very pleased that Marc has decided to join Brentford B. He's an attacking player who is able to play in various positions, he constantly looks to identify and create space in the final third and create opportunities for himself. The technical staff are looking forward to working with him and I'm sure he will be a good addition to our squad."
