Sam Saunders dedicates win over Ipswich Town to Alan Judge

9 April 2016

Midfielder on Brentford’s first ever three points at Portman Road.

“It didn’t sound good when it happened,” said Sam. “It took us a few minutes after that because we were all devastated for him. Whatever the result it’s been clouded by Judgey’s injury. Today, although it doesn’t mean that much to him right now, that was for him.”

Sam scored his second of the season with a neat finish on the edge of the box, with Konstantin Kerschbaumer atoning for his earlier error to supply the 32-year-old with the opportunity to finish.

“I was still foaming at the mouth from earlier on from when I felt I could have been slipped in when I was free at the back stick,” said Sam. “He’s more than made up for it by laying it on a plate for me. I had to try and concentrate on keeping my technique and was delighted for it to go in.

“We knew if we got the early goal it would kill them and the fans would start turning on them.”
