Development Squad goalkeeper joins Ryman League club on loan.
Brentford’s New Zealand Under-20 international goalkeeper Nik Tzanev has joined Lewes on a Youth Loan. The 18-year-old linked up with the Sussex side today, Tuesday 8 September. He will remain with the Ryman Premier League outfit initially until 6 October.
Nik, 18, turned professional this summer and signed a one-year contract after progressing through the Brentford Academy. He spent the last two years studying for his A Levels as well as playing for Brentford’s Youth Team.
Nik played 20 games for Brentford’s Youth Team last season and two for the Development Squad. His performances earned him the Brentford Youth Team Player of the Year award and a call-up to the New Zealand ranks.
He appeared for the nation of his birth in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup, held in New Zealand, and has earned three caps at that level and was also in the New Zealand squad for the Olympic Games qualifying tournament, Under-23 level, but did not play.
