John Swift's loan extended from Chelsea

28 October 2015

Midfielder signs until New Year.

Brentford have extended the loan of Chelsea’s England youth international midfield player John Swift until January. The 20-year-old joined The Bees at the start of the month and has played in all four Sky Bet Championship matches he has been available for. He has started the last three and scored his first Brentford goal in the 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic on Saturday, 24 October.

John has now signed an extension to his loan. He will now remain at Griffin Park until 3 January 2016 and will be able to add to his four Brentford appearances.

Lee Carsley, Brentford FC Head Coach, said: “We are delighted that Chelsea have allowed John to stay with us until January. He has been a very good addition to the squad. He has slotted in well to the group.

“We spoke to him about pushing on and standing out with the quality he has. It is important he doesn’t rest on his laurels. His work rate has been outstanding since he has been with us and if he wants to stay in the team he has to maintain that.”

Phil Giles, Co-Director of Football, added: “John has had a big impact since he arrived from Chelsea. He has played an important part in our recent form and I believe our set-up has enabled him to develop as a player.

“It is pleasing that Chelsea are happy to allow him to continue until January. There is a lot of football to be played in the coming weeks and we want to have as strong a squad as possible to see us through that period.”
