Striker to stay at Griffin Park for as long as Brentford's season extends

Striker Chris Long has extended his Youth Loan from Everton to Brentford for the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs.

The youth international striker joined The Bees in January.

His loan was due to end on Saturday, May 2, the final day of the Sky Bet Championship season.

But with Brentford’s season extended, Chris will stay with The Bees for the duration of the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs.

Chris has hit four goals for Brentford in ten appearances, two of which have been starts, but injury and illness have prevented him playing in the past few weeks.

In his two starts for The Bees he has scored three times and he was called up to the England Under-20 squad for matches against Mexico and USA last month but could not play due to injury.

Mark Warburton, Brentford FC Manager, said: “It has been a frustrating few weeks for Chris with a combination of illness and niggling injury.
“However, he is now approaching full fitness and we hope very much that he will have a role to play in the crucial games that lie ahead.
“He is a talented player and hungry to be involved and the type of lad who adds value to the squad.”

Chris has been on Everton’s books since he was five-years-old, working his way through The Toffees’ Academy.

He had a spell on loan at Milton Keynes Dons last year and scored on his first appearance in professional football – against Shrewsbury Town in January 2014.

Chris made his Everton debut earlier this season, when he played the final 11 minutes of a Europa League tie against FC Krasnodar as a substitute.

He has represented England at every level from Under-16 to Under-20, playing 13 games and scoring five goals.

He went to the Under-20 World Cup in 2013, playing in two of England’s three matches.
