Prize for Brentford midfield player
Brentford midfield player Lewis Macleod has picked up the Goal of the Season award from Rangers, his previous club.
The 20-year-old joined Brentford from the Glasgow club during the January Transfer Window.
Injury has prevented him playing for The Bees yet but he scored eight goals in 21 appearances in the first half of the campaign.
One of those – an overhead kick against Livingston in October – won the Goal of the Season award at the Scottish side.
Speaking to the Rangers website, Lewis said: “I’m delighted to win it.
“I’ve been too injured to score anything like that at Brentford yet, I have scored one or two in training but I still haven’t been fully fit enough to play because of my hamstring.
“I have been on the bench once and I will be working over the summer to try and make sure it is right for pre-season.
“It is good down here at Brentford; it is hard at first when you move away but apart from that it has been good.
“Obviously I would have liked to have been fit sooner than pre-season but everybody in the dressing room has welcomed me in and it is a good bunch of boys here.
“It was disappointing to just miss out on the Championship Play-Off Final, even when you aren’t involved you want to help out as much as you can.
“It was a good period and that is just an indication of what it is like and hopefully for the next couple of years we can continue to be involved in those sorts of games.”
The goal, and more from Lewis, can be seen on the Rangers website here.
