6 June 2015

Defender named Zoo Magazine Sky Bet League Two Player of the Year

Alfie Mawson has another award to add to his collection as he was named Zoo Magazine’s Sky Bet League Two Player of the Year following his time at Wycombe Wanderers.
The 21-year-old defender enjoyed a fantastic debut season in the Football League while on loan at the Buckinghamshire side.
Alfie played 51 games, 45 of them in the league and all three Play-Off matches, scoring seven goals as Gareth Ainsworth’s side were beaten on penalties in the Sky Bet League Two Play-Off final against Southend United at Wembley.
His performances saw him named in the Football League Team of the Week three times and he also finished third in the Sky Bet League Two Player of the Year award, voted for by League Two manager.
Alfie award from Zoo Magazine comes on top of six other awards that the central-defender picked up towards the end of the season at Wycombe.
He was named the League Two side’s Supporters’ Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year and also picked up the Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Away Travel Player of the Year from the Official Wycombe Wanderers Supporters Association.
Alfie was also named Player of the Year by the Wycombe Wanderers Independent Supporters Club.
