Brentford Development Squad attacker Montell Moore signs on loan for Danish Superliga leaders FC Midtjylland
Brentford attacker Montell Moore has joined Danish Superliga leaders FC Midtjylland on loan for the rest of the season.
Montell, 19, is on a Development Squad contract and signed a new three-year deal earlier this season, keeping him at Griffin Park until the summer of 2017.
He flew to Denmark this weekend and has now linked up with FCM, as they are known.
He will remain with FCM, where Brentford FC Owner Matthew Benham has the majority shareholding, for the rest of the Danish season, which will end in May.
Ose Aibangee, Brentford FC Academy Director, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Montell.
“He has made great strides in the past year and has been in and around the First Team this season.
“FCM are giving him a chance to experience different football in a different environment and he will learn so much from his time out there.
“Brentford’s links with FCM are well known and the clubs are forging closer bonds across all departments as the days and weeks go by.
“FCM are pushing for the Danish title, they will play a lot of important matches in the coming months.
“Montell will be able to train with them and if he proves he is good enough I am sure he will get a chance in the team.
“He can then come back to us and put what he has learned in to practice in pre-season and next season.”
Montell completed his two-year scholarship at the end of the 2013/14 season and was given the chance to turn professional.
Born and raised in Brentford, Montell played football with the Club’s Community Sports Trust at the age of seven before joining the Centre of Excellence, now the Academy, as an Under-Nine player.
He signed a one-year Development Squad deal in the summer and – after being involved in Brentford’s First Team pre-season friendlies and then scoring one and making three more when he made his professional debut in the Capital One Cup win over Dagenham and Redbridge – extended it soon after.
Montell led the Youth Team’s scoring charts in 2013/14 with nine goals in 16 games to add to his five goals in the first year of his scholarship.
He also scored one goal in seven appearances for the Under-21 side in 2013/14.
Montell has been an unused substitute in six more First Team games this season and has scored three goals in 11 Under-21 Professional Development League games for Brentford’s Development Squad.
Brentford FC Owner Matthew Benham bought the majority shareholding in FC Midtjylland and the associated handball side FCM Handball last summer.
