Brentford Development Squad goalkeeper Mark Smith to stay at Hampton and Richmond Borough
Brentford Development Squad goalkeeper Mark Smith has extended his loan at Hampton and Richmond Borough.
The stopper has been on loan at the Ryman Premier League side since the end of October and has played 11 games for The Beavers.
His loan has now been extended until March 8.
Mark has kept two clean sheets as Hampton have picked up three wins and three draws in those 11 games.
They have, however, not won in six and now sit 18th in the Ryman Premier League table.
Ose Aibangee, Brentford Academy Director, said: “Mark has been getting regular First Team football at a good level and that has been good for his development.
“He learned what it is like to be involved in high-pressure games with points at stake, particularly around Christmas when crowds are high.
“Hampton were keen to keep him and we were happy to let him stay.
“He can train with us and play games for Hampton, as well as training with them, and it is a situation that suits all parties.”
Mark signed a one-year Development Squad contract in the summer after a successful trial.
He played three games for Hitchin Town earlier this season on loan and has made three appearances for Brentford’s Development Squad in the Under-21 Professional Development League this term.
