Bees fans select Brentford's nomination for Mitre Goal of the Year 2014

Brentford's fans have spoken - Jota scored the best goal for The Bees in 2014.

The Football League have launched the search to find the Mitre Goal of the Year for 2014 and Brentford fans were invited to have their say.

The Club asked for the help of Bees fans in deciding which of Brentford’s goals from the last 12 months should be put forward for the prize.

The Club can nominate one goal scored by The Bees in any Football League competition in the 2014 calendar year, which includes goals scored in the Capital One Cup.

After a series of votes, the goal scored by Jota in the 3-2 win at Cardiff City in December was named as the best.

It came from a Cardiff corner, which was collected by David Button before Moses Odubajo and Toumani Diagouraga sent Alex Pritchard away.
Pritchard ran from deep inside his own half to the Cardiff penalty box before setting up Jota, who curled the ball in to the top corner from 20 yards.
No goalkeeper in the world would have kept it out.
Brentford's nomination - which can be seen below - will go forward with 71 other goals for the next stage of voting.
The winner will be named at The Football League Awards on April 19.
