Striker completes move to Turf Moor.
Andre Gray has left the Club to join Burnley for an undisclosed fee. The striker, who turned 24 this summer, leaves Griffin Park a year after joining from Luton Town.
Burnley’s offer for the player met the Club’s valuation and he completed the move today, 21 August. He is not eligible for Saturday's fixture at Turf Moor between the two sides.
Marinus Dijkhuizen, Brentford FC Head Coach, said: “I have enjoyed working with Andre in my time at the club. Andre is a quality player and he was a great asset to the club.
“Despite the speculation around him he remained focussed on doing his job for Brentford and that showed in his performances against Ipswich Town and Bristol City. I wish him all the best for the future and look forward to seeing his progress.”
Phil Giles, Co-Director of Football at Brentford FC, added: “"It was a difficult decision to accept the offer from Burnley for Andre. Undoubtedly he is a top player in the Championship with potential to improve further.
“There were a number of factors that resulted in us accepting this offer, the two key ones being that it gives us the opportunity to reinvest in the squad either in this transfer window or subsequent windows, and that we are now in a strong position with regards to our ongoing Financial Fair Play obligations.
“We will continue to work up till 1 September and beyond in order to make the squad as strong as possible. Andre worked tirelessly for Brentford last season and did very well for us in the first two games this season. We wish him well at Burnley and thank him for his efforts at Brentford."
Brentford signed Andre from Luton Town - where he had three successful seasons culminating in receiving a Football Conference title winner’s medal – in June 2014. He started his career at Shrewsbury Town, before moving to Hinckley United.
As part of the transaction, Luton will receive an undisclosed sell-on fee. In his 14 months at Griffin Park, Andre scored 20 goals in 52 league and cup appearances.
