Alan McCormack signs new two-year Brentford contract.

Alan McCormack has signed a new two-year contract, with an option for a third.

He completed the formalities before the First Team squad left for Saturday’s game at Middlesbrough.

The 30-year-old, who can play in either midfield or defence, arrived at Griffin Park from Swindon Town in the summer of 2013.

He has now committed his future to Brentford for the next two years, signing a contract that expires in June 2016.

The contract also has an option for a third year.

Brentford manager Mark Warburton said: "Alan’s effort has been outstanding.

"He’s a flexible full back; he can drop into midfield for us and has a fantastic attitude – a never-say-die type.

"It’s important the young players see how hard he works and what it means to him.

"I pushed hard to reward the senior players and it’s a credit to Sporting Director Frank McParland for doing that for me – it’s great news for the Club."

Alan finished the 2013/14 season with 45 appearances and two goals as Brentford were promoted to the Championship.

He also won Brentford’s Supporters' Player of the Year award for 2013/2014 and was named as right back in the Sky Bet League One Team of the Season.
