Development Squad striker Luke Norris extends loan spell from Brentford to Dagenham and Redbridge for the rest of the season

Development Squad striker Luke Norris has extended his loan spell at Sky Bet League Two Dagenham and Redbridge for the rest of the 2013/14 season.

The 20-year-old joined the East London side in January and has played 12 games for The Daggers, scoring four goals.

He will now stay with Dagenham and Redbridge until the end of the campaign.

It is Luke’s second loan move of the season as he spent just under two months with Northampton Town, scoring five goals in 12 games in all competitions, all of which came in his first six games.

Added to one goal for Brentford this season, Luke now has ten goals to his credit this term.

Ose Aibangee, Brentford FC Academy Director, said: “Luke is doing well at Dagenham and continuing to prove he can score goals at Football League level.

“He now has nine in 24 games for League Two teams this season, which is a good record.

“He also has ten goals for the season, which is the first landmark for all strikers to aspire to.

“It is important for him to play First Team football at Football League level and he is getting that opportunity at Dagenham and Redbridge.

“He also has to fight for his place and that sort of competition can only do him good.

“We were pleased Dagenham and Redbridge wanted to keep him for the rest of the season and are happy for him to stay.

“There are lots of games to play between now and the end of the season and Dagenham and Redbridge are looking for a place in the Play-Offs.

“This will be good for Luke’s development and we will watch closely how he gets on.”

Luke has been at Brentford since the summer of 2010, when he signed a scholarship.

He turned professional in the summer of 2012 after excelling in the Youth Team and signed a new one-year Development Squad contract in last summer.

The striker finished as Brentford’s top scorer in the Professional Development League last season, hitting ten goals in 18 games.

Luke played seven games for Boreham Wood in the Conference South last season, scoring three goals.

He made his Brentford debut as a 17-year-old in April 2011 when he was a first-year scholar and has made five First Team appearances in total, scoring once.

Luke played three games for Brentford’s First Team this season before joining Northampton and scored in a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy win over AFC Wimbledon.

He has scored one in five games for the Development Squad in the Under-21 Professional Development League Two South this season.
