Brentford recall Charlie Adams from Skrill Premier Barnet as Youth Team midfield player Lewis Lavender joins Burnham

Charlie Adams has been recalled from his loan spell at Skrill Premier Barnet.

The 19-year-old Development Squad attacking midfield player linked up with the North London side in early February on a Youth Loan for the rest of the 2013/14 season.

Clubs are allowed to recall players after the first 28 days of a Youth Loan and Brentford have exercised that option.

Charlie has now returned to West London.

He played five games for the North London side with Barnet winning three and losing two of them.

Ose Aibangee, Brentford Academy Director, said: “This was Charlie’s first loan move and it was an important time for him.

“He managed to secure a place in Barnet’s First Team, which was pleasing to see, and he did well.

“Barnet are right at the top of the Skrill Premier so Charlie had to deal with preparing for games and then playing them in a pressurised environment and at Conference level, which is different to what he had experienced.

“He also trained with a different club, which was a new experience for him and something he will have learned from.

“All the reports from Barnet and from those that watched him are that he did well.

“Charlie was around the First Team group here when he left and comes back at a time where there are numerous games at both Sky Bet League One and Development Squad level.

“He can show us what he has learned from his move.

Charlie signed a new two-year Development Squad contract last summer after making his Football League debut as a substitute in an npower League One game against Carlisle United around a year ago.

He made 19 appearances in the Under-21 Professional Development League Two South last season and scored seven goals.

This term he has played nine Under-21 league games and scored twice.

He has also been an unused substitute for the First Team on four occasions.

Meanwhile, Youth Team midfield player Lewis Lavender has joined Calor League Premier Division Burnham on work experience.

Lewis, 17, is in the second year of a two-year scholarship, having come through the Club’s Centre of Excellence.

He has made 11 appearances for the Youth Team in the Under-18 Professional Development League this season, scoring once, and also played one FA Youth Cup tie and once for the Development Squad in the Under-21 Professional Development League.

Last season he played 20 games for the Youth Team in all competitions, scoring once, and three times for the Development Squad.

He joins George Pilbeam, who is also at the Buckinghamshire side on work experience.

Ose added: “Work experience is a good way to get some of our scholars in to men’s football.

“It is very flexible so he can be recalled at any time.

“George has been getting game time at Burnham and I am sure Lewis will as well.

“It is up to him to cement his place in their team and show his qualities at that level.

“As with every loan move, our scouts will watch closely how he gets on.”
