Former Real Madrid and UD Almería midfield player Marcos Tébar Ramiro joins Brentford

Brentford have signed Spanish midfield player Marcos Tébar Ramiro on a two-year contract with an option for a third year.

The 28-year-old has been on Brentford’s radar for more than a year and completed the move to West London after agreeing a termination of his contract with previous club UD Almería.

He will start pre-season training this morning with the rest of the Brentford squad.

The Madrid-born midfield player started out with Real Madrid and played for Spain at Under-16 and Under-17 level.

He spent three years with Girona, in the Spanish second tier, playing regularly for the Catalan side.

Last summer he moved to Almería to play in La Liga.

Marcos played in 25 of Almería’s La Liga fixtures last season and made 29 appearances in all competitions before leaving to move to Brentford.

Mark Warburton, Brentford FC Manager, said: “We have tracked Marcos for the last 18 months and we hoped to sign him last summer.

“He comes to us having played the majority of games for Almería in La Liga – the Spanish top flight – last season.

“He has been playing against the best teams in Europe and has shown his quality.

“We are delighted that Marcos has decided to join us.

“In the meetings we have had with him he has shown us his passion for the game and the project we are evolving at Brentford.

“He is keen to play a major part in how the Club moves forward.

“Marcos is a very talented midfield player, excellent tactically and technically.

“I am sure he will be a very valuable addition to the squad.”

Marcos spoke to Bees Player after signing – see an interview with the midfield player shortly.
