Brentford complete the loan signing of Alex Pritchard from Tottenham Hotspur
Brentford have signed attacking midfield player Alex Pritchard on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
The 21-year-old has agreed a deal to stay at Griffin Park for the duration of the 2014/15 Sky Bet Championship season.
There is, however, a break clause allowing it to be terminated during the January transfer window.
Alex, who has three England Under-20 caps, has been at Tottenham from a young age.
He made his Spurs debut on the final day of the 2013/14 season against Aston Villa, appearing as a late substitute.
Alex spent a short spell on loan at Peterborough United in 2012/13 and the whole of last season at Swindon Town.
He played 36 League One games for Swindon last term, scoring six goals, and 44 in all competitions, scoring eight times.
He was shortlisted for the Sky Bet League One Player of the Year, won by Brentford’s Adam Forshaw, and the Football League Young Player of the Year for his performances in 2013/14.
Mark Warburton, Brentford FC Manager, said: “Alex is a player I have watched for many years.
“I have followed his career at Tottenham from a young age.
“He is very good tactically and technically with excellent dead ball delivery.
“He showed his quality while he was on loan at Swindon last year.
“Alex will add to the quality in our squad, which is taking shape nicely ahead of the start of the season.
“This deal is testament to the work of Sporting Director Frank McParland and his team over the summer.
“We fought off competition from a number of Championship clubs to get Alex to Griffin Park.”
