Brentford to welcome Spanish side RCD Espanyol and French side OGC Nice to Griffin Park for pre-season friendlies
Brentford have arranged two pre-season friendlies against European opposition for later this month.
The Bees will play Spanish side RCD Espanyol and French side OGC Nice in prestigious games before the start of the Sky Bet Championship season.
Nice will come to Griffin Park on Saturday July 26 for a friendly that will kick off at 4pm.
The Bees will then welcome the Catalan side – officially Reial Club Deportiu Espanyol de Barcelona – to Griffin Park on Wednesday July 30.
That match will kick off at 7.45pm.
Nice finished 17th in Ligue Un, the French top tier, last season.
They had finished fourth the year before, securing a place in the Europa League.
Their squad includes Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina, currently playing in the World Cup, Sweden international Niklas Hult and Mali international Mahamane Traoré.
Espanyol, who used to play in Barcelona’s Olympic Stadium, finished 14th in La Liga, the Spanish top flight, last season.
Their squad includes two players who featured at the 2014 World Cup – Christian Stuani, who played for Uruguay, and Héctor Moreno, who played for Mexico.
Brentford have now arranged five pre-season friendlies.
The Bees will travel to Boreham Wood on Thursday July 17 and Barnet on Tuesday July 22, Crystal Palace will come to Griffin Park on Saturday August 2.
