MARK SMITH HEADS OUT ON LOAN

8 August 2014

Brentford Development Squad goalkeeper Mark Smith joins Hitchin Town on loan

Brentford Development Squad goalkeeper Mark Smith has joined Hitchin Town on loan.

The stopper signed the Youth Loan earlier today and will stay with the Calor League Premier Division side until September 4.

He will be available for the Hertfordshire side when they kick off their season away to Corby Town tomorrow, Saturday August 9.

Mark signed a one-year Development Squad contract after being told he would not be offered one by QPR.

He had been on trial at Brentford for a few months, playing one game for the Youth Team and two for the Development Squad.

Ose Aibangee, Brentford Academy Director, said: “Hitchin have offered Mark the opportunity to play First Team football and it will be a good loan for him.

“It will be his first taste of non-league football.

“We will learn a lot about him and he will learn a lot about himself.

“Mark has had a good pre-season and we can see how he has developed over the past few months.”
