Northern Ireland international Stuart Dallas signes new Brentford deal

Brentford winger Stuart Dallas has signed a new contract.

The 22-year-old, currently on loan at Northampton Town, was at Griffin Park this morning to sign a new deal.

It will keep him at Brentford until the end of the 2015/16 season.

Northern Ireland international Stuart joined Brentford in the summer of 2012 from IFA Premiership side Crusaders.

He played ten games in all competitions in his first season at Griffin Park and has played five so far this term, setting up two goals in the Capital One Cup win over Dagenham and Redbridge in August.

Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler said: “We are very happy to secure Stuart Dallas.

“Stuart has made steady progress since he joined us.

“He has made the step from non-league football in to the professional game very well.

“He is now is another stage of his development, getting regular league football at Northampton.

“Stuart has proved himself to me; I am very pleased with his attitude and his willingness to work hard to get better.

“He deserves a new contract; he is the type of player we want at the Club.

“Stuart can also be an example to our Academy players, someone who has come from non-league football and earned himself a contract.

“I am happy for him and I am sure in the years to come he will be an important part of the Club.”

Mark Warburton, Brentford FC Sporting Director, said: “It gives me great pleasure to see Stuart sign a long term agreement with the Club.

“Only a short while ago Stuart was playing part time football in Northern Ireland and the manner in which he has adapted to the demands of full time professional football at League One level has been outstanding.

“He has dealt with significant challenges both on and off the pitch, always maintaining a first class attitude and focussing on realising his undoubted potential.

“I look forward to watching him continue his development in the months ahead and have no doubts that he can become a key member of the First Team squad.”

Stuart joined Crusaders in 2010 and spent two years with the Belfast club before joining The Bees.

His performances in his debut season helped Crusaders finish second in the IFA Premiership and earned him the Northern Ireland Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year honour.

Stuart represented Northern Ireland at Under-23 level against Portugal before making his full international debut as a substitute against Wales in May 2011.

He has also represented Northern Ireland at Under-21 level.

Stuart joined Northampton on loan last month and is with The Cobblers until the start of 2014.

He has played six games for the Sky Bet League Two club, scoring two goals.

Stuart spoke to Bees Player after signing his contract; subscribers can see the interview later today.
