Bees sign Chelsea man on loan until January
Brentford have signed Chelsea player George Saville on loan until January.
The tall left-footed player, who turned 20 earlier this month, will stay at Griffin Park until January 5.
George turned professional in 2010 and had a spell on loan at Millwall last season.
He played for Chelsea’s Under-21 side in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League last season and also for The Blues in the NextGen Series, the Under-19 tournament for the Academy teams at some of Europe’s top clubs.
Mark Warburton, Brentford FC Sporting Director, said: “George is a tenacious midfield player who possesses excellent technical attributes which have allowed him to train daily with the Chelsea First Team squad for the vast majority of last season.
“A product of the Chelsea Academy system, George has starred for both their Under-21 team and their NextGen squad, delivering a series of high quality and eye-catching performances.
“George has been on our radar for a long while and when the opportunity arose to secure him on loan until at least early January we had absolutely no hesitation.
“He will bring a real bite to our midfield coupled with the ability to technically maintain good possession and the vision to unlock opposition defences.
“We welcome him to GP and would also like to thank the Chelsea Academy Director Neil Bath for his help in finalising all matters related to this loan deal.”
George joined Chelsea from Reading when he was an Under-13 and started out as a left back.
He has also played in the centre of defence but has been predominantly used by The Blues in midfield.
George spoke to Bees Player after completing the move – subscribers can see a video interview soon.
