Brentford Women’s Development Team were edged out 3-2 by Larkspur Rovers on Sunday in the Greater London Women’s Football League Division Two North.
Following their opening day humbling at the hands of Tower Hamlets WFC, it was a much better showing from Will Blithing’s charges at Prior Farm Lane. After a goalless opening 45 minutes all the action was contained in a breathless second-half.
Kelly Mackay opened the scoring with an unstoppable effort from all of 45 yards before Anna Gelderblom repeated the trick with a long-range free-kick as the two sides traded goals in the warm September sunshine. However, it was the home side who managed to land the final blow late on to take the points.
The Bees return to action at Bedfont Sports next Sunday with Clapham United Reserves the visitors. The First-Team are also in action on home soil this weekend, also looking for their first points of the season, as they host AFC Phoenix Reserves with both games kicking-off at 2pm.
