Brentford travel to Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon to play Blackburn Rovers in the Sky Bet Championship, a 3pm kick-off in Lancashire.
Dean Smith's men were pushed right to the wire on Wednesday night as Aston Villa stole a late equaliser to snatch a point from The Bees in a dramatic 2-2 encounter at Villa Park. Now they face a Rovers side promoted as runners-up to the League One title.
Blackburn last faced The Bees in league action on the final day of the 2016/17 campaing where, despite beating Brentford 3-1, Rovers were relegated. Prior to that, Blackburn had also won the previous home tie 2-1 at Ewood Park, Harlee Dean scoring an own goal after Scott Hogan had given us the lead in the first minute.
Rovers have had a busy summer bringing in the likes of Adam Armstrong (Newcastle United), Joe Rothwell (Oxford United) and Jack Rodwell. Rodwell had been on trial at Watford after letting his Sunderland contract expire, joining the Lancashire outfit yesterday (23 August).
In terms of outgoings; Elliott Ward, Brad Lynch and Frank Jones were all released over the summer. Liam Feeney left on a free transfer to join Blackpool, while Ben Donnelly-Blackburn was also let go in the last few months.
The Bees were dealt a blow by the news that Neal Maupay will miss three games through suspension following a rough challenge on John McGinn on Wednesday night. The Championship's top scorer's ban applies straight away, so he'll miss this trip.
Earlier this week, Emiliano Marcondes received news that he will be out for a few more weeks following an injury he picked up in pre-season. Chiedozie Ogbene and Moses Odubajo both played for Brentford B against AFC Bournemouth U23 on Tuesday night, but will most likely be unfit for the journey to Blackburn.
Tom Field was also included in that squad, while Marcus Forss netted one against The Cherries at Griffin Park. Both are eligible to play on Saturday and could be making the trip north having missed the Villa game.
Blackburn's Bradley Dack missed the 2-2 draw with Reading in the week but Rovers boss Tony Mowbray is hoping to get him back in action at the weekend. Loan star Kasey Palmer is also looking for a way back into the side, while Adam Armstrong remains a doubt with an ankle problem.
Dominic Samuel is facing a last-minute scan on a knee injury picked up at Ewood Park against The Royals, it's likely that he will also miss out.
