Young Bees fall to defeat in second match

17 November 2021

Brentford B were beaten by FC Rodina Moscow earlier today during the side’s trip to Cyprus.

Despite a Ryan Trevitt goal and a really determined display from the young Bees, who went in level at 1-1 at half-time, two second half goals from the Russian side gave them the victory.

It was the Russians who perhaps had the better of the opening few minutes as Vladislav Morosov struck over from the edge of the box before Sergiy Dimitriev struck low and wide of goal.

The young Bees then began to settle and they created chances of their own, first when Wraynel Hercules darted and battled down the right before his deep cross towards the far post was helped back in by Lewis Gordon on the opposite flank, but Lachlan Brook’s header went over.

One of The Bees’ best chances came when a wonderful through ball from Trevitt found Brook in the inside left channel and he thumped an effort against the near post as Neil MacFarlane’s side searched to go ahead.

Rodina then forced Roco Rees into a save as he pushed away Arkem Sukhanov’s effort before the same player then had an shot which went over the Brentford goal. The opening goal then came on 11 minutes when the Moscow side were played in down the right and a low cross was then turned home by Denis Tikhonov to make it 1-0.

Another chance then fell for Brook after Hercules squared the ball inside, and the Australian winger powered an effort goalwards but it was blocked well by the Rodina defence. The side were then dealt a blow when Ben Hockenhull limped off and was replaced by Nico Jones on 28 minutes.

Despite that, the equaliser came courtesy of a very well worked goal. Good movement and passing eventually saw the ball find its way to Trevitt, who beat a couple of men, before firing a low effort into the net to make it 1-1.

It could have been 2-1 to Brentford when a glorious chance came in the dying moments of the first half as Trevitt chipped the ball into the path of Jefferies who cushion volleyed just a whisker past the post.

The Bees started the second period brightly too when Jefferies had another good chance when the ball was flicked up to him from Brook before the midfielder hit a powerful effort which the keeper saved, but the ball also bounced down and behind him, and though a number of players threw themselves towards the ball, the keeper managed to readjust and claim in the nick of time.

The Russian side managed to weather that good spell of Brentford pressure and they managed to get back in front just after the hour mark when Stanislav Krapuhin was found on the right-hand side and he fired home low into the net.

Rodina then pushed further in front on 78 minutes when a back pass to Roco Rees saw the youngster quick off his line but his clearance rebounded off Kraphuin and fell kindly for the Rodina man as he tapped home.
