Brentford B will play their first match of 2021 on Monday afternoon when they travel to York Road to take on Maidenhead United.
The young Bees will come up against the National League outfit in a 2pm kick-off and it will be staged behind closed doors. Supporters will be able to tune in to watch the match live on the Club’s YouTube channel, going live from around 10 minutes before the start of the game.
Neil MacFarlane’s side have been in fantastic form in recent weeks, winning each of their last five matches going into the end of 2020. The team picked up victories over under-23 sides from the likes of Arsenal, Charlton Athletic, Queens Park Rangers and Huddersfield Town B.
Brentford B have already taken on Maidenhead in November last year at York Road in a match where they earned a hard fought 1-1 draw. Despite going behind the side rallied to level through one of the Trialists, and they almost won it in the dying moments but for the offside flag as Lachlan Brook was denied.
Discussing the positive form towards the back end of 2020, Brentford B defender Lewis Gordon says the side have built confidence in recent weeks but knows the hard work must continue.
He said: “We’ve picked up some good results against some good teams and hopefully we can carry that on. Towards the end of the year, we had two games in a short period (QPR and Huddersfield) so we had to rely on the whole squad and everyone had to step up. We were all able to come together to get two good results.”
Maidenhead are having a positive season so far in the National League and they are without a fixture until 16 January against Yeovil Town due to their match with Stockport County, scheduled for 9 January, postponed. In the league table they sit sixth after 14 matches and have picked up 23 points so far, and they ended 2020 in fantastic fashion with a 4-0 win over Wealdstone on Boxing Day.
As well as a live stream, we will also provide live updates across social media as well as a match report and post-match interviews in the aftermath of the game.
