Brentford B drew 3-3 with Queens Park Rangers Under-23s at Jersey Road on Wednesday afternoon. The Bees were behind early on but fought back, thanks to goals from Jan Zamburek and Cole Dasilva.
Within four minutes, the visitors were in the lead. A free-kick from Amrit Bansal-McNulty was sent over the wall and hit the top left corner of the net.
The second came just minutes later. Goalkeeper Simon Andersson's clearance fell to a QPR trialist, the middle man picking it up and drilling it low into the bottom corner of the net.
With only a quarter of an hour gone, Brentford had a goal back. Dasilva picked up the ball on the right wing, drove inside then smashed a ball beyond goalkeeper Marcin Brzozowski.
Just 19 minutes in, we saw the fourth goal. Rangers were awarded a penalty when Kaliq Raymond-Callender was brought down by Brentford's trialist centre-back. Up stepped the away side's trialist again to slot home his second of the afternoon.
Things settled down until just before the interval when The Bees got back into it again. This time, Dasilva crossed into the box and it was turned into his own net by Nathan Carlyle. Aiming to clear it with his left foot, he sliced it the wrong way and it beat Brzozowski, who was rooted to the spot.
After the break, Brentford burst out of the blocks in search of a leveller. They found it after just five minutes. Jayden Onen slipped the ball across the top of the box, where Zamburek was waiting to fire in over sub keeper Michael Kelly.
From that point on, the scoring was finished. Both teams had two great chances to change that.
The first came from Henrik Johansson, coming on as a sub for Ali Coote and taking the captain's armband as he did. A ball found him on the edge of the box, where he took it first-time and sent a shot narrowly wide of the right post.
Rangers had to wait until the very end of the game for their chance. A neat run by Charley Kendall allowed Dillon De Silva the space to get behind Jarvis Edobor. It looked set to be a goal but for the challenge of Jonny Mitchell in the six-yard box. It was perfectly timed and kept his side in the match.
