Preview: Huddersfield Town EDT vs Brentford B

Terriers visit Jersey Road this afternoon

22 January 2019

Brentford B welcome Huddersfield Town's Development side to Jersey Road this afternoon, a 1pm kick-off in West London. We will be live streaming the game via our Official YouTube Channel.

The Opposition

The Terriers are another example of a side that has moved away from the traditional fixture schedule to create their own bespoke plan for their youngsters. This season has seen them travel to Italy to play Udinese and Atalanta, as well as Braga and Celta Vigo in Portugal.

The Development Team come into this one on the back of a win, a loss and a draw in their last three fixtures. Last time out they lost 3-0 to Blackburn Rovers, shortly after drawing 2-2 with Wigan Athletic. Prior to that, they recorded a 3-0 win over Morecambe.

The First Team find themselves bottom of the Premier League after a defeat to Manchester City at the weekend. The senior boys have lost nine from their last ten in the league, not picking up three points since the end of November 2018.

Bees defeat Terriers at Jersey Road

22 January 2019

Brentford B defeated Huddersfield Town's Elite Development Team 4-3 in mixed conditions at Jersey Road. A dramatic second half saw three goals fly in the final 11 minutes of the game.

Marcus Forss opened the scoring after quarter of an hour, latching onto the end of a Jayden Onen pass to sweep the ball into the bottom corner.

Town were level before the break, taking advantage of their greater possession in the final third. Aaron Rowe broke clear of the back line before slipping the ball beyond Ellery Balcombe, racing off his line.

Four minutes into the second half, The Bees had the lead again. Matej Majka brought the ball down on the right wing before setting it back to Cole Dasilva. The fullback drilled in a cross, which was turned in by Onen from close range.

There were 20 minutes to go when Huddersfield levelled for a second time. A long ball forward was missed by one of the Brentford trialists, it ran clear for Will McCamley to collect and the striker slotted it into the bottom corner.

The third Bees goal came after 79 minutes, with Dasilva and Majka linking up again. This time on the left, Majka slotted a through ball down the wing for his fullback to overlap. Dasilva took it in his stride and then fired his shot into the roof of the net.

Brentford managed a fourth through Majka himself with just four minutes to go. He cut in from the left, then drilled the ball all the way across the face of goal and it crept in at the far post.

A late scare saw The Terriers get back into contention, their third coming from Hamza Kaid. He cut in from the left, beat two players and then Balcombe with a shot into the side-netting inside the far post.
