A dynamic midfielder with strong control on the ball, Riley Owen joined Brentford B in August 2023.
Having come through Tottenham Hotspur’s Academy, Owen came to Jersey Road on trial, impressing enough to earn a contract with the young Bees.
Owen featured 23 times for the young Spurs in the Under-18 Premier League and once in the UEFA Youth League across the 2022/23 season, before making the move to west London.
Following a strong first season with Brentford B, Owen was rewarded with the chance to join the first team on their pre-season tour to Portugal ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
He was was a used substitute in the Bees’ 1-1 draw with Benfica, replacing Vitaly Janelt at Estádio da Luz. He also earned valuable minutes in a win over AFC Wimbledon.
Owen took the momentum of a strong pre-season into the young Bees' return to the Professional Development League (PDL), as well as their Premier League Cup (PL Cup) campaign, tour games and friendlies, playing 46 games across the season.
He opened his scoring account in a 3-0 PDL win over Swansea City at Wheatsheaf Park, before backing it up with a goal in the next fixture against Colchester United.
Owen added five assists across the campaign, his most important coming in late season league games. He assisted Romelle Donovan in a 3-0 win over Barnsley at Gtech Community Stadium as the young Bees secured their top two spot in the PDL south group table.
Owen followed that with the game-winning assist to Iwan Morgan in the PDL play-off semi-final win over Sheffield United, eventually helping lead Brentford to a PDL national final triumph over Bournemouth.
Owen played a pivotal role in the young Bees’ run to the PL Cup final, starting in eight of his nine appearances across the side’s 10 games, where they ultimately fell to west London rivals QPR.
Owen was ever-present for the 2025/26 season, playing 2,787 minutes across 36 games for Sam Saunders' side, 31 of those starts.
He regularly impacted the game in attack, scoring four goals and registering eight assists.
His finest performance came in a gritty away win over Millwall, the midfielder picking up two assists and scoring a late winner as the Bees claimed a vital three points in tough conditions en route to their second-straight PDL title.
In the title decider, Owen assisted Ethan Laidlaw's early goal, the Bees going on to draw 2-2 with Swansea City, claiming the all important point they needed for the title.
