Freddie Taylor began his footballing journey at a young age with Ruislip Rangers before moving to Watford’s academy, where he spent eight years honing his craft.

In 2022, Freddie made the switch to Brentford, where he has continued to grow and develop as part of the U18s team. His defensive prowess and ability to break into the final third have become key aspects of his game.

Described by his teammates as fast, solid in tackles, and dependable, Freddie brings both composure and tenacity to the pitch. His time at Brentford has helped him refine his decision-making, particularly in knowing when to commit to challenges and how to play to his strengths. His progression has been clear, and his signing with the club remains one of the proudest moments of his career.

Off the field, Freddie gets in the right mindset before games by listening to songs like Adele’s Skyfall, and his initiation track of choice is Bruno Mars’ When I Was Your Man. When asked to pick his dream five-a-side team, Freddie opted for a balanced mix of creativity and firepower with Ederson in goal, Rodri, Riyad Mahrez, David Silva, and Daniel Sturridge in front.

Reflecting on his time with Brentford, Freddie highlights the team’s recent tour to Germany as his greatest moment so far. The camaraderie among the players and the strong performances on the pitch made it a special experience. This season, Freddie has set clear goals for himself: to win a trophy and secure a professional contract.

Freddie credits his father as the biggest influence on his development, and training alongside Brentford’s first-team players at the Robert Rowan Performance Centre has reinforced the importance of living like a professional at all times. As he looks to the future, Freddie aims to offer Brentford his defensive solidity, ensuring nothing comes down his side, while also using his skills in possession to drive the team forward and create chances in the final third.
