Brentford head coach Thomas Frank believes that his side should have left the City Ground with all three points on Sunday afternoon.
The Bees had a one-goal and one-player advantage on 58 minutes - Christian Nørgaard heading home a Mathias Jensen free-kick moments after Moussa Niakhaté had been shown a second yellow card for a foul on Yoane Wissa – but Nottingham Forest fought back and found an equaliser through Nicolás Domínguez.
“Right now, we are in a spell where we are struggling to get over the line and get three points,” Frank began.
“What we are a big believers in is that, if the performances are good and we are going in the right direction, the points will come. If you look at everything, we should have won this game.
“Leading 1-0, 11 against 10, [Domínguez] scores that header one in 100.
“After that we should and could have scored, but on the day we just couldn’t do it. Well done to Nottingham for defending well.”
Brentford had 71 per cent possession and 15 attempts on goal during the second half as Forest organised themselves in a low block, but for all their endeavour the Bees couldn’t produce a winning goal.
“It’s not easy [against a team with 10 players],” Frank insisted.
“I think we did well in spells, but the final quality – cross, pass, shot – was not there. And some great blocks and saves from Nottingham.
“We need to keep believing, keep learning and keep improving. Then we’ll be fine.”
