Head Coach spoke to us after watching his side beat Real Betis 1-0 in pre-season at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Bryan Mbeumo scored the only goal of the game in the first half, latching on to the end of a pass by Rico Henry.

The gaffer was happy with the display from his side, who begin their Premier League campaign next weekend away to Leicester City.

"I'm very pleased with the performance," said Thomas. "We're facing a very good side from Betis. They finished fifth in LaLiga last year, won the Copa del Rey and had some good players out there. They put everything into it of course, they played with a high tempo. It was almost a perfect test for us, and it's nice that we could perform well and get some confidence.

"When the season starts, it's always a bit different but we can take good things away from this performance, which we certainly will do. It was a good performance, not a top performance, but a good solid performance. If we perform like this in every game then there will be a lot of points for us in the Premier League." Thomas also gave us an update on some of the players missing from the squad this afternoon, including Sergi Canós. "Ethan Pinnock, just an update on that, is out with a knee injury that will keep him out for the first part of the season.

"Kristoffer Ajer got a hamstring injury in the last game of last season, had an operation, and is now in a good place. He's looking to be available mid-August to late August, hopefully soon. "Sergi got a hamstring injury on pre-season camp, he's also progressing. Hopefully, he's two or three weeks away."
