Thomas Frank believes that Eddie Howe has done a ‘very good job’ at Newcastle United.
Howe’s first game in charge of the Magpies was the 3-3 draw with Brentford last November, albeit he couldn’t be at St. James’ Park in person after contracting COVID-19.
Taking over in the midst of a relegation battle, the former Bournemouth boss transformed Newcastle’s fortunes and steered the club to an 11th-place finish.
The club have continued their upward trajectory this season and currently sit seventh on 11 points.
“I’d like to praise Eddie Howe and his coaching staff and players,” said Frank at his pre-match press conference.
“I think they’ve done a very good job so far, first stabilising the club and this year they look very strong, physical, dynamic and aggressive.
“St. James’ Park is one of the most difficult away grounds to go to, but we’re looking forward to it. We’ll attack and go out there with the best intentions of getting three points.
“He [Howe] has made them much more front-footed and aggressive. They press very aggressively.
“On the ball, they look very dynamic. They play with two No.8s in Joelinton and [Joe] Willock; they are very dynamic and run forward. They are very good. The way they play and run behind their opponents is very impressive. I like the way they play.”
All Premier League matches between 8 and 16 October will be dedicated to No Room For Racism, as the League and clubs highlight their ongoing commitment to tackling discrimination and promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
“These campaigns are very, very important, but it’s also about the every day and how we embrace diversity,” said Frank, “that’s how I try to raise my children.
“There are so many fantastic cultures and human beings. We all need to try and make the world a better place. That’s why I try to say to my players as well.”
