Head Coach Thomas Frank gave us an update on his squad heading into this weekend’s Premier League clash with Manchester United.

He was speaking to members of the media at Jersey Road, as his Brentford side prepare for their first game of the season at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Thomas confirmed that new signing Mikkel Damsgaard is being "considered" for the squad against Manchester United, but is not ready to start.

Damsgaard signed a five-year deal with Brentford on Thursday, after making the move from Italian side Sampdoria for an undisclosed fee.

The Danish midfielder has trained this week ahead of the clash with the Red Devils, but his new boss says that he won't be in the starting XI.

Thomas said: "I’m definitely considering him for the squad tomorrow. We believe in him so we should get him involved.

"He hasn’t played or trained with the team for the last ten days. That’s not to say he can’t play ten, 15, or 20 minutes at a good level for this game."

He added: "He is not ready to start. He had an absolutely perfect medical with nothing to worry about."

As for the players who won't be available, Thomas confirmed that Kristoffer Ajer, Ethan Pinnock and Sergi Canos will not play against Erik ten Hag's side on Saturday and are still out injured.

However, both Kristoffer and Sergi could be back involved within the next few weeks.

"They [Sergi, Kristoffer, and Ethan] are not involved tomorrow," said Thomas. "Sergi and Kristoffer are ahead of Ethan, so hopefully we are talking weeks."
