“I am very excited to sign for Brentford. I wanted to play in the Premier League – it was my dream – so it’s a big step in my career.”

The Bees’ new signing Kevin Schade can’t wait to get started in TW8.

During a game of pool with Stu Wakeford at the Robert Rowan Performance Centre, Schade discussed his professional debut against Borussia Dortmund, his main strengths as a player and what it was that attracted him to Brentford.

“I want to play in the Premier League,” Schade began.

“I want to play against the best teams in the world. The Premier League is the best league in the world, for me. That’s why I made this big step.

“I saw it [the Liverpool game], it was crazy! I want to play with these team-mates and I want to score and win against the best teams.”

Last season, Schade registered a top sprint speed of 36.37 kmph, which was the second-fastest recorded in the Bundesliga all campaign. He is also the 10th-fastest player on FIFA 23, with a pace rating of 94.

However, the 21-year-old believes that he can become even faster by working with Brentford’s coaching team.

“I’m quick and I can jump high,” he continued.

“I can play anywhere in the front three, it doesn’t matter. I’m a quick player so I need to go deep and play on the shoulder.

“I think I can get even faster, because I’ve never trained it. When I get a better technique, I can be quicker.

“I think I’m fast because I was always late for school and I had to run!”

Schade - who named Kylian Mbappe, Leroy Sane and Sadio Mane among his favourite players - revealed that he spoke with Vitaly Janelt before making the switch from Freiburg, with his fellow German praising the ‘family feel’ at Brentford.

Reflecting on his career highlights so far, Schade said: “The day before my debut, I was so nervous. I knew I was in the squad. But by the time you warm-up, you are only focused. There were no nerves. We won 2-1. It one of my highlights, of course.

“But my highlight was my first goal against Monchengladbach. We won 6-0 and I scored my first goal. It was an incredible feeling, the best feeling.”
