Brentford head coach Thomas Frank believes his side lacked "final, quality actions", as the Bees were beaten 1-0 by Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

The visitors created no big chances and an xG of just 0.74 on Saturday.

And while Frank praised his players' hard work, he wants them to learn from their lack of cutting edge moving forward.

“It was a difficult game, a tight game - it’s exactly what we expected and exactly what we tried to prepare the players for,” Frank explained.

“I’ve got no complaints about the effort from the players; they gave everything out there on the day.

“It was a very even game. Fair play to Sheffield United, they made it very difficult for us, it was one of those games where you realise that one moment of brilliance will decide the game. Unfortunately for us, it was James McAtee with a fantastic finish and they win 1-0.”

Frank added: “The final, quality actions weren’t there on the day. We have a lot of injuries, but it's up to me to find solutions and, of course, it’s up to the players, now they get their opportunities, to grab it.

“It’s all about sticking together, learning from this game and moving on.”

Brentford’s injury list lengthened earlier this week as Bryan Mbeumo picked up a “bad” injury during the defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday.

Another of the west Londoners' key creative outlets Mathias Jensen is also currently out with an adductor injury.

But Frank was pleased that he could get both Keane Lewis-Potter and Mikkel Damsgaard back playing, as well as youngsters Yehor Yarmoliuk and Michael Olakigbe.

The Bees boss stated: “There are positives that we can start Keane and for Damsgaard to get more minutes, that’s important for us.

“We’ve started Yehor for the last two or three games, he’s done well but he had to start off the bench for this one. He's young so it’s important he keeps the intensity and the energy.

“Also Michael, both of them looked fine.”
