Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has highlighted three positives from the Bees' 4-1 defeat to Wolves, despite the disappointing scoreline at Gtech Community Stadium.

Three Wolves goals before half-time and one in the second half was enough to beat the west Londoners - but Frank remained optimistic and wanted to focus on the elements of the game he was pleased with on Wednesday evening.

Frank stated: "We lost a game that was never a 4-1 defeat. Of course we didn't help ourselves, but that happens. We made a couple of big mistakes and two other avoidable goals that we normally don't give away.

“We need to give credit to Wolves on two of the goals - but they’re still avoidable goals, from my perspective.

“Besides that, it sounds strange, but we performed quite well. We created quite a few big chances and a lot of dangerous situations that really didn't tip our way.

“It's one of these days where when it rained, it poured.”

Frank added: “The three positives I would like to highlight: it was very nice to have Mathi [Jensen] back and he's a big and important player for us; Keane Lewis-Potter was the positive light and bright today, that goal really took some weight off his shoulders; and Yoane Wissa also really upped his game today."

Frank was also pleased to see the Brentford supporters stay and applaud the team off the pitch, which showed the togetherness he wants to see heading into the Crystal Palace game on Saturday.

The Bees boss said: "It's tough but I'm pleased when I looked around and the fans stayed after the game, backed the team throughout the game, and I want to thank them for that.

“It's not as easy as it looks and we need them, we need each other, and we need togetherness."
