Brentford head coach Thomas Frank was pleased with elements of his side's performance in the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace - but insisted that the goal the Bees conceded could have been avoided.

Discussing the game, Frank expressed his delight at the team's performance, especially in the first half, but believes that there are lessons to be learned from the game at Gtech Community Stadium.

“We played a good first half, we were on top, we dominated, and scored a fantastic goal," Frank began. "In the first half, and overall, I would have liked us to create a few more dangerous moments.

“But I thought we very good in the aggressive, high pressure. I thought we closed Crystal Palace down well.

“Second half, the intention was to go out, go for 2-0, to be positive, to still go for it but, for whatever reason, we couldn't. We also need to acknowledge that Crystal Palace are a good team.

“They were a tiny bit more on top. I thought that we were in okay control defensively, but you take the risk of going deeper and then they can create more.

“But I think, besides Mark’s double save, the header and the next save, I felt like we kept them relatively quiet.

“The disappointing thing is that the goal we conceded, we could have avoided, but it’s a very tricky situation. That happens.

“I think it's a relatively even game where we need to find a way to get out of with three points because we were leading 1-0.”

Frank was also delighted to see forward Kevin Schade score his first goal of the club, with the German showing his pace and direct dribbling to create the chance, before curling into the far corner.

And the Bees boss insisted he had a feeling that Schade's maiden goal was just around the corner.

He said: “In training and friendlies, he's been more and more dangerous, scoring more and more goals, so we were just waiting for it to come.

“It’s fantastic a goal, I'm so pleased for him, so pleased for us, because it's important that we have different goal threats. So yeah, it was all good.”
