Brentford head coach Thomas Frank explained that top goalscorer Ivan Toney missed the 2-0 win over West Ham United with a minor hamstring injury - but is hopeful the striker will be available for the Bees' clash with Tottenham next weekend.

Toney, who has scored 20 goals in the Premier League this campaign, missed just his third game of the season as Frank's side beat the Hammers at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday.

But the Bees boss is hoping to have the centre-forward back for our trip to north London to face Spurs on Saturday lunchtime.

"It's a hamstring injury," he confirmed. "We'll assess him during the week and, hopefully, he's going to be available for Tottenham. That's what we're working towards."

Frank was pleased with the front three that started the game in Toney's absence - Yoane Wissa, Bryan Mbeumo and Kevin Schade - with the former two scoring the goals at the Gtech.

He added: "I think the front three looked exciting. Kevin, Wissa and Bryan together looked good.

"I would obviously like Ivan in the team, but you need other players that can step in and Wissa, again today, stepped in and scored. Fantastic."

On the performance from his side, Frank described it as 'total dominance', with the Bees recording 24 shots and 10 shots on target against the east Londoners.

“I’m very happy with that performance. It was a top, top performance in, in many, many ways," the head coach stated.

“It was a bit similar to last year when we faced West Ham, but I think this was even more dominant.

“24 shots for, four against, some massive chances. It's incredible that we didn't score at least two more goals. So, yeah, many positives.”

He continued: “The shots, the xG (expected goals) and the big chances, with the visual - it was just total dominance.

“I'm so pleased with that. I know people have to ask, ‘Are you on the beach?’ but no, no, no. This group of players is so determined, they want to get better and they want to drive.

“And for these fantastic fans, we need to deliver. A top-10 finish is now confirmed, which is an unbelievable achievement, but we would like to do more and finish as high as possible.”
