Thomas Frank praised his side after a ‘clear and fair win’ against west London rivals Fulham.
Ethan Pinnock, Ivan Toney and Mathias Jensen were on target as the Bees ran out 3-2 victors at the Gtech Community Stadium.
“We were unlucky with the goal we conceded and that was the only chance they had during the first half,” Frank began.
“Then we came out flying for the second half. We came out with the same intensity, and it was a clear and fair win.
“To win a local derby means the world to us – to the players and the fans.
“We do it together. We need to bounce off each other’s energy, especially in moments when it’s not going well.
“I don’t like these six-pointers because they don’t matter if we don’t win the next game and Fulham win theirs. But of course it was important, because we want to finish as high as possible.”
The Bees boss highlighted Mikkel Damsgaard’s performance after the Denmark international’s first start in the Premier League since October.
“It was very pleasing to see Mikkel do very well today,” he said.
“I played him because Mikkel has trained very well for the last three or four weeks – he’s looking sharp and played with intensity.
“It was the moment to play his type as the no.8 and he did well. He looked sharp on the ball and did well in the pressure. He got us out of tricky situations. It was pleasing to see.
“We’re very privileged to have a player of Mikkel’s talent. He was out for almost a year and it takes time, but of course he’s a bit impatient, I’m a bit impatient, everyone is a bit impatient.”
Frank also hailed Kevin Schade’s impact. The German was introduced during the second half and assisted Brentford’s third goal.
“I was so pleased with that,” said Frank.
“Kevin has got good potential and he’s shown glimpses of that in training, when he’s done some top offensive actions. But he hasn’t showed it in the games.
"We’ve been building him gradually and he came on and did fantastic.”
