New Brentford signing Sergio Reguilón has revealed that it was conversations with head coach Thomas Frank that convinced him to make the move to west London.

The left-back has joined the Bees from Tottenham Hotspur on a six-month loan deal.

“I'm very happy, I think this is what I need now in this moment in my career," said Reguilón.

"I want to meet my team-mates and play with them, and now just enjoy my football on the pitch."

He added: “Thomas was key in this move, for me. I'm in a moment where I need to play consistently and I think this club can give me that. These six months, I will do everything for the team, but it’s also important for my future.

“I'm happy after my conversation with Thomas; he knows me very well.

“We had many conversations about everything. I remember the first time was more than 40 minutes talking about football, about everything.

“For me, that’s so important because he knows me very well and I think we can do very good things together.

“The team has to re-focus in the Premier League, Ivan [Toney]’s back and I think we can do many things together.”

And Reguilón can't wait to play at Gtech Community Stadium, possibly for the first time against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Asked about the Gtech, he stated: "It has something special, that's true! It's a beautiful stadium, it's compact, and you can feel the people together and with you.

"This type of stadium, for me, is a special thing in the Premier League."
