Brentford head of coaching Justin Cochrane has stated how the Bees squad are itching to get back to winning ways against Burnley on Saturday - and has called for the fans' support in doing that.

After two weeks without a game and almost a month since there was Premier League action at Gtech Community Stadium, Cochrane praised the squad's mentality on their return to training after the international break.

And the coach believes that the players' mindset, along with the continued support from the fans at the Gtech, creates a great opportunity for the Bees to pick up their first home victory of the campaign this weekend.

“We've got a good group of players who know how to bounce back," he said.

"The players know as well, they don’t need the coaching staff to tell them, they feel the games; they know when they're in a game, and they know when they think they could have taken more points.

“Despite the result, if you look at the last game at Old Trafford, they played with self-belief, they played with authority, even at a place like Old Trafford.

"We've got such a good group of players - I can't speak about them highly enough. They’re full of energy in training, they're competitive, they want to win, they do things properly, they go the extra mile.”

He added: “Ever since I've been here when we're at home, especially, and away from home, the fans get behind the team.

“We really need them to come with their voices nicely prepared to give us that lift. They can make a big difference and we’ve felt that that at times.

“We need that energy from the supporters because it transmits into the team, and when the supporters get behind the team, they can feel that.”

With seven points from eight games so far this season, Cochrane admitted that he and the rest of the team would have liked to have more on the board at this stage of the season.

But, describing the process that the coaching staff go through in the days after a defeat, he revealed that there are plenty of elements of the performances that he has been delighted with - and more of the same will lead to better results.

The coach, who joined the west Londoners from Manchester United last year, stated: “Looking at the season so far, looking at all the games we've played, we're probably not as happy with the points tally as we would have liked.

“But, in terms of performances, we've been quite pleased; we've created opportunities, we've defended well at times.

“I think we've been incredibly unlucky in a few of the games but, at the same time, we've created enough chances to take more points.”

He added: “When we look at the granular detail amongst the games - that's what the coaching staff do, evaluate the games and evaluate some of our processes - we've been quite pleased on the whole, probably bar the Everton game.

“Straight away after a game we’ll be very disappointed, but then you have to go away, you have to review, and you have to reflect.”
