During his pre-match press conference at Jersey Road, Thomas Frank told the media that Brentford have no fresh injury concerns ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Fulham.

The Bees travel to Craven Cottage after last weekend’s 4-0 victory over Manchester United at the Gtech Community Stadium.

“Kristoffer Ajer and Sergi Canós are getting closer, but the Fulham game is too soon for them,” said Thomas.

“Other than those two, it’s a fit and available squad from last week.”

Brentford have added five new faces this summer, while Zanka signed a new contract earlier this week.

The Head Coach underlined that he is happy with the balance of his squad.

“We have a very strong group,” he said.

“It’s about finding the right balance between having enough quality, but not too much. If you have too much, there are too many players who will be a little bit disappointed to not be playing. If the right player is available then we will still look, but we are not chasing anything.

“It’s tricky balance that we try to find. I would not be surprised if one or two left, but it’s not written in stone.”

While Thomas said that it’s been a ‘good week’ on the training pitch for new signing Mikkel Damsgaard, the Denmark international is not yet ready to start a Premier League game.

“I’m very aware that Damsgaard is a player with ambitions to play and get on the pitch, but he’s the type of player we need to make sure is looking good in the long run. Not that he can’t look very good in the short term, but he needs to be built correctly.

“We experienced it last year with Kristoffer Ajer coming in from a different club. A lot of players that come to us need to adapt to the intensity. There’s a fine balance between getting the players fit without injuring them.”

Thomas confirmed that Halil Dervisoglu, who wasn’t named in the squad last weekend, could feature at Craven Cottage.

“Unfortunately, I can only have 20 players involved.

“I try to find the balance between having enough defenders, midfielders and offensive players.

“In general, I like to go pretty offensive. But we already had Damsgaard, Keane [Lewis-Potter] and [Yoane] Wissa [on the bench against Manchester United]. There’s no reason why Halil can’t be involved tomorrow.”
